Since there are so many different ways that chiropractors can treat their patients we would like to give you some insight into how we at Arbit Chiropractic treat our patients. First and foremost each patient is unique. We may use similar techniques, but we treat each person that walks through our doors individually and we focus our treatment plan to the patient's specific symptoms and their unique preferences. We also are always constantly trying to stay up-to-date with the most current research so we can apply the best methods to our patient's treatment.
What does that all mean? Well, first chiropractor's main tool of treatment is called an "adjustment". If you have never heard of this, it is simply mobilizing a "stuck" joint (where two bones meet). This maneuver produces several positive beneficial effects including increased range of motion, decreased pain and reduced inflammation. These adjustments may be performed manually or using a tool called an activator.
Our next main method of treatment is utilizing various muscle techniques. Dr. Zack strongly believes that the muscles cannot be ignored and are just as important as adjusting the joint. Dr. Zack also strongly believes in a more aggressive approach (i.e. deep tissue) when it comes to treating the muscles, but also realizes that not everyone is willing or can tolerate such treatment. In these situations Dr. Zack will work with each patient's personal tolerance level in order to treat the patient's muscles while staying within their comfort zone.
Another one of our main treatment methods is spinal decompression. At Arbit Chiropractic we house a Leander table which lets us perform flexion-distraction to the thoracic and lumbar spine. The Leander table opens up the spine while in flexion relieving pressure from the joints, muscles, discs and nerves. The Leander table is primarily utilized for sciatica, intervertebral disc disorders, chronic pain and geriatric patients.
We also utilize various therapeutic modalities such as electrical stimulation, ultrasound and intersegmental traction. Electrical stimulation is commonly used in chiropractic and physical therapy offices. It works by contracting the muscles, which increases the blood flow to the area and decreases pain and inflammation. Electrical stimulation works very well for muscle spasms, sprain/strains, and rehabbing atrophied muscles. Ultrasound is another tool commonly used in chiropractic and physical therapy offices. It is a form of deep heating which accelerates the healing process of ligament sprains. Intersegmental traction is similar to spinal decompression; it opens up the spine relieving pressure from the joints, muscles, discs and nerves.
We always work within the patient's comfort zone so that everyone walks out after their treatment feeling better than when they came in. Come in and see for yourself why patients have been coming to Arbit Chiropractic for the last 25 years to relieve their pain.
